Jump Start Builders proudly partners with local law enforcement agencies to host Construction and Community Officers Promoting STEAM (C.O.P.S.), a two hour, hands-on workshop designed to build youth confidence and strengthen relationships between police officers and children in local communities.

Through collaborative construction and STEAM-based activities, children work alongside community officers in a positive, supportive environment. These shared experiences help youth develop confidence, teamwork, leadership skills, and safety awareness while engaging positively with law enforcement professionals.

Purpose and Community Impact

Construction with C.O.P.S. encourages youth to see police officers as approachable mentors and community leaders. By working together on tangible building projects, children gain a sense of accomplishment while developing trust and mutual respect.

This program is designed to:

Build confidence and resilience in youth

Strengthen positive relationships between police officers and the communities they serve

Foster teamwork, communication, and leadership skills

Promote unity, safety, and a sense of belonging in the city children call home

Learning Outcomes

Participants in Construction with C.O.P.S. develop both practical skills and social-emotional growth, including:

What a Construction with C.O.P.S. Session Includes

A two-and-half hour, guided construction activity led by Jump Start Builders Staff

Active participation by community police officers as mentors and team partners

Safety instruction and consistent use of PPE

Age-appropriate building tasks that encourage problem-solving
