Jump Start Builders Inc. is a construction-based STEAM education initiative designed to introduce youth and young adults to the exciting world of construction, engineering, and leadership development—all while nurturing confidence, curiosity, and character.
Our Mission
To provide youth ages 4 to 24 with engaging, hands-on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM)—through the lens of construction. Our programs combine education, workforce readiness, and personal growth to equip young people with practical skills, leadership tools, and a pathway to purposeful careers.
We believe that every child—especially those from underserved and overlooked communities—deserves access to real-world learning that not only prepares them for the workforce but also helps them understand the value of their own communities and how to contribute meaningfully to them.
Why It Matters
Jump Start Builders goes beyond the classroom. Our youth learn how buildings are designed, how teams collaborate, and how construction shapes the places where people live, learn, and work. As they explore trades like carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and design, they also learn to appreciate their local environments, understand their community’s needs, and begin to see themselves as future leaders, problem-solvers, and innovators.
From wearing safety gear to working with real tools, youth in our program aren’t just building projects—they’re building confidence, critical thinking, and a sense of purpose.
Through teamwork challenges, creative design activities, and guided mentorship, we help young people discover how they can be builders of change, opportunity, and hope in their own neighborhoods and beyond.
What We Do
Jump Start Builders offers a tailored 6 to 12-week program to communities for nonprofit community programs, schools, preschools, after-school sites, and summer camps, and is Free to Enrolled youth.
Our program includes:

Construction-based STE(A)M learning and activities that build academic and technical skills.

Safety gear and builder kits for hands-on experiences.

Literacy connections through workbooks and children’s books.

Professional development training for educators to support STE(A)M integration.

Collaborates with schools to offer Family engagement workshops

Community and Character-building lessons and activities that promote understanding of our community work through building leadership skills, teamwork, and resilience.

At Jump Start Builders, we believe in the power of early exposure, not just to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), but to the essential skills that shape leaders for life.
Our approach goes beyond the classroom. We intentionally bridge education with industry, creativity with construction, and school with family and community. By doing so, we create a dynamic support system that surrounds youth with the tools, people, and possibilities they need to thrive.
Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and community involvement, young participants not only gain knowledge of the trades—they gain self-esteem, problem-solving abilities, and a deeper understanding of how they can positively impact the world around them.
